Unexpected Hong Kong

Going to visit one of the most significant
financial centers in the world,
We were surprised to find ourselves in the fairy tale.
This story has started with the first glance from the window of my room, which was situated on the 30-th level,

And ended only upon departure, as if it was an awakening from a magical, unusual dream.

From the first steps in Hong Kong,
one would be amazed by its brilliance

and by the diversity of personifications
and combinations of uniform subjects,

and different strange things.

The people live here in the junction
of different cultures and civilisations,

and enjoy the patronage of Budha,
Saint George,
and Madonna

(with the Child, of course).
The locals are not very similar to us:
The magic dragoons,
ordinary earthlings
and aliens.
So there is a matter to think about!

In general, Hong Kong inhabitants live as any other people in the world.

They walk and drive,
pray,

and communicate with others.
They hurry to their work in the mornings,
and come back home in the evenings,
build houses

and spend their time by queueing,

create families

and love the children,

observe the life,

work hard
and rest well,

fly in clouds,

and play pranks,
They believe in romance,
and want to leave a trace in the history.

They are extremely hospitable

and smile from ear to ear -
so warm,
genuinely,
and well-wishing,

That one starts to light up from the inside!

But it is better not to lose vigilance
- there are restrictions, and they are strict!
Probably these ones didn't behave good enough,
so they've been cought,
dried,
and eventually they end up being eaten

using the suitable chop sticks.

By the way, there are absolutely no problems
with the food of any cuisine.

However, some dishes are, softly speaking, unusual
- for example, this is called "Deep Fried Vero
Chocolate and Egg White Dumpling".
And lucky you if you know what did you eat!

Sometimes you leave the table not
assured about what exactly have you tried,

and even how much have you paid!

Even the trees are not so ordinary.
For example, the banyans,
which roots one can see here and there.
In old times, they were distributed along all the streets, and nowadays each tree has its personal number and is considered to have historical value.

Even the very usual things
are looked here quite amazing
Actually, this chapel was indicated the end of the Trans-Siberian Railway - the longest railway in the world.
Before the Second World War it was very prestigious to get there, and a lot of world stars, such as Charles Chaplin and Princess Diana, have visited this place

The best way to observe this urban
beauty is to go up to the really high point.

Even the process of lifting is
an inimitable experience by itself

From 1904, this tram goes up
to the highest point of Hong Kong
- The Victoria Peak

What a magnificent view is opened up!

Undoubtedly, the skyscrapers are the best decorations of Hong Kong.
Giant stone trees of incredible design and shapes stagger the imagination.
There are 8,000 skyscrapers in Hong Kong, and it is twice more than in New York!
It is hard to believe that this type of building might be built in such a seismic danger area!
This amazing building named "Robots", and it is the main office of HSBC (Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corporation). It enjoys the perfect Feng Shui and shoots to their competitors by its sharp sides.

This square is situated in the central district named Wan Chai.

There is the fourth-highest building in the world - Commercial Plaza, which has the city church on itss 75-th level.
In the same time, somewhere there you can also find the people specialising on making curses. The price for the curse depends on the quantity and the length of the desired effect
Hardly one can find two similar buildings in Hong Kong: all of them are different. This one - and really nice one - is Lilly hotel, the pearl of the wonderful sandy beach.
Golden Bauhinia Square. The monument was built in 1997 on the occasion of the handover of Hong Kong to Chin.
But if one will start to move  away from the city cente,
 further and further,
leaving the skyscrapers astern,

one can see completely another Hong Kong!

Here the atmosphere is full
of silence and calmness.

Here one can find mountains and beaches,
a simple provincial style of life,
and a typical Maltese scenery.

By the way, some of the boats in Hong Kong are inhabited by "Tanka". The government did it's best to provide usual accommodation for them, but they would never want to leave their boats. So the government puts up with that and made a tourist site from their river village.

I'm not pretty sure if I want to go back or not.
Hong Kong is amazing both as a province,
and as a contemporary urban city - it's impossible to compare.
But twilights are gathering,
and Hong Kong becomes to look totally different once again!

The streets flourish with the illuminated posters (by the way, this type of outdoor advertising which has been invented exactly there).

the city puts on an orgy of colours,
Sea fronts flash out by myriads of lights,
and, little by little, Hong Kong falls into a deep,
sweet dream...
It was about our Hong Kong - cheerful, energetic, bright

and unexpectedly romantic.

We are in love with this place, and would be happy to come back!
