The aroma of the forest, full of wild berries, mushrooms and trees; the taste of fresh and clean vegetables that have been just picked up; the heat of Russian steam room smelling wood and herbs; the atmosphere of unusual relaxation and freedom; and unforgettable feeling of sincere and warm hospitality, so typical for genuine Russian character...

If you are visiting Russia as a part of the cruise or organized trip, you will be impressed for sure: Russian culture and architecture is very special and different from any other. But looking to the impressive towers of the Red Square or admiring the magnificent fountains in Petergoff, you will see just the cover of the book named Russia.

To read the first page you should go to some not-central parts of the city; to read more, you better go to some country residence named  “Dacha”. Ask your Russian friends about it, and it is very likely that you will be invited to this place, where you will see the real Russia, not just one of the big cities that look almost similar nowadays.

Weather and climate:

Since Russia is a very big country, and you can visit Dacha in a different city, the weather, climate, and time depend on the particular place. But the best time to visit Dacha is summer – from the end of May till the middle of September.

Where to stay:

Almost all Dachas have houses, and your friends will be happy to organize accommodation for you. There are no hotels in the Russian countryside.

Money matters:

There are not many places where you can spend money – just little local shops with food and drinks. You better make some presents to your hosts. If you go by train, you can pay for the tickets for you and your friends.
