USA, San Diego: breakfast with cats

Individual travel, independent travellers, interesting places: USA, San Diego, Cat CafeFrom my earliest childhood, I'm a cat admirer, so I didn't find it strange that the first place I've seen in San Diego was the Cat Cafe situated just in a couple of meters from my hotel.

Cats and their human staff was a hospital and unobtrusive: a cup of coffee, a couple of smiles and they leave me alone, gave me an opportunity to relax and observe their life as it was.

Individual travel, independent travellers, interesting places: USA, San Diego, Cat CafeThere were nine big, well-groomed cats - hosts, evidently enjoying socializing - with their neighbors and guests both. The cafe consists of two parts: in the first of them you can buy some drink and snack, and the other is the cat's premises.

Everything there is designed for the cats: toys, boxes and even photographs made by the local pet photographer.

The cats get here from the local rescue companies. The preference is giving for the animals who need special care. The vet norms strictly bound the quantity of the inhabitants. If someone decides to adopt a cat, it provides space for another animal in need. The cats are ready to be adopted - sterilized, vaccinated, toilet trained and accustomed to being loved.

Later I've found that the first cat cafe was opened in Taiwan in 1998; the idea spread fast in neighboring Japan and shortly reached the rest of the world, including the big cities of USA, of course.

The Cat Cafe in San Diego is the perfect place for:
  • Cat lovers. Each of them - rather, each of us - knows what a pleasure is to communicate with the cats. And there, except the "cat therapy session", one can also help cats - as much as he or she can.
  • Those who are looking for the idea of small, but goodwill business. Here I have to mention that the cafe is never empty, moreover: if you want to avoid the queue who better come early. The advertising of vets, pet photographers, toys, cat food, etc. creates an additional source of the income.
